    Andrew Zelman is the Publisher of Cleveland Scene Magazine, now in it's 48th year covering arts, dining, music, culture and news in the Cleveland area. Zelman and his wife Shannon have a one year old son who loves Mac and Cheese.

    WKYC-TV Sr. Health Correspondent

    Monica Robins is an Emmy award winning reporter well known as one of Northeast Ohio’s most reliable sources for health news. As Senior Health Correspondent, Monica has the ability to take even the most complicated medical procedure and make it understandable and relatable to viewers. Her stories are often broadcast nationally at other NBC and Tegna/Gannett stations.
     
    Whenever she can find spare time, Monica and her Great Pyrenees, Griffin, are certified by Therapy Dogs International and volunteer bringing emotional support to patients in local nursing homes.

    Aubrey Johansen is the personal chef and recipe developer behind Instagram's @thatswhatsheeats

    After graduating from Baldwin Wallace University in 2013, Aubrey found herself in fine dining kitchens in Cleveland, honing her cooking skills, and eventually picking up a passion for home cooking and food photography! You can catch her on her daily Instagram stories, or on her blog, thatswhatsheeats.com

    Aubrey is really excited to be supporting W.A.G.S. 4 Kids and eating her weight in macaroni noodles!

    Thank you for your interest in volunteering for The Mac 'N Cheese Throwdown! Volunteers are truly the backbone of any event and your support is greatly appreciated.

    What to expect as a volunteer

    What to wear:

    • You will be given a W.A.G.S. 4 Kids T-Shirt to wear the day of the event.
    • Pants or leggings that you don't mind getting dirty
    • Comfortable, closed toes shoes
    • MASK!

    Purses and other valuable items can be stored in a secured area. We will provide water for you throughout the event.

    Rules and Expectations

    Our volunteers are a key attribute to the festival and to our patrons; you are instrumental in setting the friendly vibe that keeps people coming back. As such, we ask that volunteers maintain a friendly, civil, and welcoming demeanor at all times.

     

    We also ask that all volunteers report for work on time, dressed appropriately, and free of the influence of alcohol or other substances. Here is a complete list of volunteer rules and expectations:

     

    Volunteer Expectations:

    1. Report to your volunteer coordinator 10 minutes prior to your shift start.
    2. An ability to work well with a variety of other people including W.A.G.S. 4 Kids staff, other volunteers and attendees.
    3. Give us your best effort and perform quality work – stay on task.
    4. Wear comfortable pants, shorts or a skirt you don't mind getting dirty and close-toed shoes, and a shirt with sleeves.
    5. If you have complaints, issues and/or questions about any volunteer’s actions or decisions, please direct your concern to your Captain and the volunteer coordinator will come and help resolve the situation.
    6. Volunteers will have the ability to sample the beverages they are serving and are more than welcome to enjoy the Mac after their shift. However, volunteers are required to stay sober during their shift.

    Job Descriptions

    Runner

    Distribute ice, water and soft drinks, relay communication, assist staff and Captains in a variety of tasks. Must be highly mobile and able to repeatedly lift 50 lbs. or more.

     

    Tasting/Drink Tickets

    Sell tasting or drink tickets. Track total tickets sold. Please come with your smart phone fully charged. Must be comfortable processing credit cards on your smart phone.

     

    Set-up/Tear-down

    Set-up/Tear-down crews are needed Saturday before and after the event. In addition to moving tables, barriers and supplies, the duties require the ability to repeatedly move 50lbs bags of ice and cases of beer.

     

    Beer & Liquor Servers

    Collect drink tickets. Pour samples of beer and/or cocktails for guests. Keep service area tidy. Clean-up area at end of your shift. Looking for friendly people with the ability to stand for extended periods. Experience a plus.
